“Your Organization Used Windows Defender Application Control to Block This App” Error Message — After setting policy through Microsoft Intune

While playing with a demo tenant and intune, I got caught up in this error on the client. Whenever I tried to open Google Chrome or any other application (except) Microsoft apps, I got this error.

I immediately deleted the application control policies in intune. Synced the device, but the issue remained. Removed the device from intune, still no success.

After hours of searching on the net, I got an idea. I recreated the application control policies, added the device back to intune and restarted it. Then, without deleting the policy, I disabled the settings to audit only mode instead of enforced mode and synced the device. The device restarted and BOOM!!! Everything worked normally, no error.

I learnt that when we need to remove / disable any policy which is applied from intune, we should not delete it. We should disable the settings in it so that it gets applied to the devices under it.
